Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a muffin tin with paper liners or grease it lightly with butter.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix the buttermilk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Gently fold in the fresh blueberries, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.
- Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups, filling each about 3/4 full. Sprinkle the turbinado sugar generously over the tops.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 18-22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the muffins to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
Notes
Use room temperature ingredients for even mixing and better texture. Avoid overmixing to prevent tough muffins. High oven temperature helps create a tall dome. Fresh blueberries are recommended, but frozen can be used if tossed in flour.
