Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large bowl, combine the sliced peaches, 1/2 cup of sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss gently to coat the peaches evenly and set aside.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, remaining 1/2 cup of sugar, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the milk and vanilla extract, stirring until the batter is smooth.
- Place the butter in a 9x13-inch baking dish and melt it in the preheated oven. Once melted, remove the dish from the oven and pour the batter evenly over the butter. Do not stir.
- Spoon the peach mixture evenly over the batter. Again, do not stir. The batter will rise to the top during baking, creating a golden crust.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the peaches are bubbly. Allow the cobbler to cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Use fresh peaches for the best flavor. Adjust sugar based on peach sweetness. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
