Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 2 large Granny Smith apples
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • Cooking spray or olive oil spray
  • ½ cup creamy peanut butter
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk (any type)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Method

Instructions
  1. Wash and dry the Granny Smith apples thoroughly. Cut each apple into quarters and remove the core. Slice each quarter into ¼-inch thick fry-shaped strips for uniform cooking.
  2. In a large bowl, combine cornstarch, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Add the apple slices and toss gently until evenly coated to help create a crispy exterior.
  3. Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Arrange coated apple fries in a single layer without overlapping. Lightly spray with cooking spray and air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through until golden brown and crispy.
  4. While apples cook, whisk together peanut butter, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and salt in a small bowl. Gradually add milk until reaching desired dipping consistency.
  5. Transfer crispy apple fries to a serving plate and serve warm with peanut butter dipping sauce immediately for best texture.

Notes

Granny Smith apples work best for their firm texture and tartness. Don't overcrowd the air fryer basket - cook in batches for crispy results. Sauce can be customized with cinnamon, cayenne, or alternative sweeteners.
