- Steam or grill beef hot dogs until heated through
- Place hot dog in poppy seed bun
- Add mustard in a zig-zag pattern
- Layer on sweet pickle relish
- Add tomato wedges on one side
- Place dill pickle spear on the other side
- Sprinkle with chopped onions
- Add 2-3 sport peppers
- Finish with a sprinkle of celery salt
- Lightly toast the buns
- Spread spicy brown mustard on buns
- Add hot dog to bun
- Top generously with sweet onion sauce
- Add sauerkraut if desired
Notes
Score hot dogs lightly before grilling to prevent bursting and create more surface area for caramelization. Lightly toast buns to prevent sogginess from toppings. Keep hot dogs at safe serving temperature (140°F+) throughout your event.
